I saw Seville Cathedral as a teenager (1982 ish) and the inside was so dark, there were no lit up vaults as shown in your photos, that was the overriding impression. Nothing like the impact then… the only thing that really struck me as beautiful was the minaret bell tower! It’s very nice to see it again through your eyes.
Thanks! I also visited here when backpacking through Europe in college (1993). The only memory I have of it from then is the Court of Oranges which really stood out to me as a beatuful space bak then (and still does).
Yes, this was built on the site of a former mosque, so incorporates some of its elements directly into the fabric. And Islamic/Morrish influence runs throughout much Andalusian architecture. Mudejar its often called, but this isn't Mudejar per se: Mudejar would have even more pronounced Islamic style elements.
